eLabFTW - Electronic lab book

All members of the University of Jena

Scientific experiments have been documented in laboratory notebooks (laboratory journals) for many decades. Especially when recognizing discoveries, it can be decisive who made them and when. Laboratory notebooks are therefore subject to both general and subject-specific documentation requirements.

eLabFTW is an electronic laboratory notebook available to all researchers at the University of Jena. eLabFTW supports the planning, execution and recording of scientific experiments. In addition, eLabFTW can be used to manage resources for experiments, such as chemicals, measuring instruments, samples and equipment. eLabFTW allows collaborative work in teams

The eLabFTW is suitable for the following scenarios:

• Electronic documentation of experiments for individual users and teams
• Support with planning as well as device and task management
• Possibility to create an RFC3161-compliant timestamp for experiments
• Standardization of documentation through appropriate templates

The web-based access enables location-independent access and the team-based assignment of experiments ensures cross-team collaboration.
