About MaharaStudents who want to reflect on their learning process and collaborate with other students, and teachers who want to use e-portfolios in their teaching
The personal and social learning environment on Mahara serves as an extension of the university's own campus and learning management systems and enables a wide range of benefits for learning in the digital space. It can be used as an e-portfolio platform and for networking in digital learning communities.
On Mahara, it is possible to exchange ideas with others within fixed seminar groups, but also independently of courses and across courses, and to network in learning groups, language tandems, writing partnerships or on informal topics, for example. In addition to the collaborative and social functions, Mahara also supports e-portfolio work. Learning processes can be documented and presented using various types of content such as texts, images, videos or audio files. Learning diaries, personal blogs and reflection portfolios encourage self-reflection and assessment, while the ability to share portfolios and obtain feedback supports collaboration and peer learning. In addition, Mahara offers the possibility to create application portfolios and public blogs.
