Description
Zoom is a digital tool for video conferences and meetings that are to be held digitally and synchronously. The tool contains a variety of functions that make it easier to work in teams or student groups. ZoomX is used at the University of Jena. The service is provided by the Deutsche Telekom GmbH in cooperation with Zoom Video Communications Inc. and offers the same user interface and application as Zoom. The hosting is therefore exclusively on servers in Germany, which enables the greatest possible GDPR compliance.
Possible applications and technical functions
You can use Zoom for the following scenarios, for example:
- Digital courses, online teaching with up to 300 participants (larger groups on request)
- Hybrid teaching
- Student group work
- Consultation hours
- Meetings in committees or working groups
- Training courses
- Digital tests

Good to know
Also with the Uni-Cloud you can hold video conferences. This application is limited to 10 people and runs exclusively on the infrastructure of the University Computer Center. This makes it particularly suitable for internal university communication and smaller committees and working groups.
